GIVE HER THE HOOK!
On Friday, Maureen Dowd published an article about an event on the current Clinton "tour." The Clintons were selling tickets at exorbitant prices to add to their multi-millions. Dowd purchased an advance-sale ticket for $177. She reports that on the night of the event, tickets were available from scalpers in the parking lot for under ten bucks, and much of the auditorium was screened off by curtains to hide the empty seats.
Dowd was highly critical of every aspect of the Clintons and their tour. And, she adds, the Clinton's public relations flack has been instructed constantly to urge reporters to mention in their articles that Hillary has not rejected the possibility of another run in 2020.
Her article did not go unremarked. I reproduce here one of the comments, and my reply, published on the Times website
How times have changed. Ever since the 1998 revelation of Bill's oval office abuse of a 21 yr-old intern, I have cringed when I see him on the TV screen. Time has only intensified my disrespect for this former president of the United States. And now, I cringe when I see or read about Hillary.
I was an eager supporter of Hillary in 2016. But I am troubled by her refusal to acknowledge that her time has passed. As it is, I know too many Democrats who stayed home in 2016 because, as much as they disliked Trump, they could not pull the Clinton lever. And if, as the "experts" tell us, the young people failed to go to the polls in 2016, Hillary is hardly the person who will inspire the millennials in Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin this time around.
So opines this "expert."
A bientot.

Howard:
How about, Ms. Dowd, you use your forum in the NY Times to try to help people make sense out of the current political moment? And to figure out how to make things better in the country now?
It's easy to trash the Clintons. I fail to see what good you are trying to do.
Martyl:
One of the good things she is trying to do, Howard, is to get the Clintons off the stage, where they are fouling our 2020 chances to rid ourselves of this corrupt swamp creature living in our White House -- the narcissist who blithely risks our national security while defiling our Constitutional democracy.
